Abstract: Tao Yuan-ming was the first famous poet to write lots of idylls in the Chinese literary history.As a statesman,he was discouraged by the dark rule of the government and lived the life of a hermit.His poets describe the beauty of the rural scenery,the peace of the idyllic life and the happiness and pains in doing farm work himself.Based on Tao's orbit in seeking ideal personality,the paper studies both his aesthetic standards which is to hold aloof from the world and his simple and flat aesthetic style.It also affirms his allof spirits and the unique contribution of his poets in the Chinese aesthetics.
