Title: Preliminary test of the induced polarization method in 1∶50000 reconnaissance in a metallogenic belt-example from the demonstration of 1∶50000 rapid electric reconnaissance in the East Tianshan copper metallogenic belt, Xinjiang
Abstract: Geophysical exploration is one of the important methods of mineral resources evaluation in a metallogenic belt. Because of technical and economic limitation, the induced polarization (IP) method has not been widely applied in mineral resources evaluation in a metallogenic belt. On the basis of an analysis of the results obtained by magnetic, gravity and IP surveys in a metallogenic belt, combined with the basic characteristic that the ore of China′s polymetallic ore deposits mainly has a disseminated structure, the chief problems in geophysical exploration in a metallogenic belt are pointed and a technical concept of IP survey in a metallogenic belt is put forward. By analyzing 1∶50000 IP trial survey and demonstration results in the Tuwu porphyry copper metallogenic belt and Pb-Zn polymetallic metallogenic belt of the contact zone north of the Bailingshan granite body, the authors think that this method is technically feasible and economically reasonable and can yield pronounced results in search for mineral deposits. Therefore the proposal of carrying out 1∶50000 comprehensive geophysical surveys by mainly using the IP method.
