Title: Creating of a chronic coronary artery stenosis and chronic myocardial hibernating model in swines
Abstract: Objective To create a chronic coronary artery stenosis and chronic myocardial hibernating model in swines. Methods Percutaneous balloon coronary inflation and endothelium denudation were used to develop a stenosis of the left anterior descending coronary arteries(LAD),and then to create a chronic myocardial hibernating model.Twenty-four swine were assigned to the following groups:chronic myocardial hibernating for 4 weeks(n=6),sham-operation for 4 weeks(n=6),chronic myocardial hibernating for 12 weeks(n=6) and sham-operation for 12 weeks(n=6).At the end of the time,a stenosis of LAD was evaluated by coronary angiography, left ventricular wall motion were observed by echocardiographic examination. Results The average stenosis of LAD was(91.9±5.2)%,the average lesion length was(13.4±2.8) mm.Echocardiographic examination revealed forty-six segments with abnormal motion in left ventricular wall, during adenosine stress echocardiography testing,thirty-nine out of forty-six segments showed a biphasic response,i.e.a deterioration during adenosine infusion followed by a recovery after stopping adenosine infusion. Conclusion A chronic coronary artery stenosis and chronic myocardial hibernating model in swine was successfully created by percutaneous balloon coronary inflation and endothelium denudation. It is simple in methods, high in successful rate and low in mortality rate of the swine.
