Title: Smoking Behavior and Attitude Among Staff of Hospitials
Abstract: Objective To improve the implementation of complete prohibition on smoking in health care system by investigating the status of smoking control behaviors and attitude of staffs in two hospitals in Wuhou district of Chengdu.Methods Medical staffs from two hospitals in Wuhou district of Chengdu were selected by using cluster sampling method,with the questionnaire survey conducted.Results The smoking rate among males was 34.84%;while it was 0 for female medical staffs.Logistic regression analysis showed that years of smoked,the amount of smoking,income and the cognitive of passive smoking were influential factors.Logistic regression analysis showed that females,non-smoking staffs,and staffs who received the tobacco control training,knew about the tobacco control methods and wished to have the capacity to conduct services through the tobacco control training,were more active in carrying out smoking control missionary work.Conclusion The smoking rate of the staffs in these two hospitals in Chengdu is low.However,the responsibility education on smoking control and helping the smokers quit smoking should be strengthened.Developing smoking control knowledge and skill training among medical staffs is the keypoint.
