Title: Load-Carrying Capacity of Welded Square Inner-Stiffened T-joints Under Axial Loads
Abstract: The paper first presents an introduction to the current research at home and abroad on stiffened joints of trusses.Systematic finite element analysis(FEA) is carried out on inner-stiffened T-joints made of circular hollow section braces welded onto welded square hollow section chords under the loading conditions of axial load in the braces. The shell finite element method is adopted to conduct a comparative study of the ultimate strength of the joints with various parameters. The comparison of FEA and test study is the basis of the choice of the FEA parameters. The study shows that inner-stiffened joints are of higher ultimate strength than the same dimensional unstiffened ones.A Systematic analysis is conducted on the position and dimension of inner-stiffened plate and improvement of load-carrying.This paper provides a basis for engineering application of the inner-stiffened joints.
