Title: Determination of sorbic acid and benzoic acid in pickled vegetables by gas chromatograpghy with gel permeation chromatography clean-up
Abstract: Objective:To establish a gas chromatographic method for determination of sorbic acid and benzoic acid in pickled vegetables with gel permeation chromatography(GPC) clean-up.Methods:Sorbic acid and benzoic acid in samples were extracted with diethyl ether and then cleaned up by GPC,separated on a capillary column(FFAP,30 m×0.32 mm×0.25 μm) and detected with a flame ionization detector(FID).Results:The linear ranges of the method was 50 μg/ml~800 μg/ml and the correlation coefficients of the sorbic acid and benzoic acid were greater than 0.999.The detection limits(3S/N) of the method were 0.55 mg/kg and 0.84 mg/kg,respectively.The recoveries ranged from 82.2% to 91.7% with RSD(n=3) of 0.5%~5.5%.Conclusion:This method is suitable for the detection of sorbic acid and benzoic acid in pickled vegetables.
