Title: Determination of vinyl chloride monomer in water supply pipes by headspace capillary gas chromatography
Abstract: Objective:To establish a method for determination of residual vinyl chloride monomer in water supply pipes by headspace capillary gas chromatography. Methods: Smashed water supply pipes were dissolved by N,N-dimethylacetamide in headspace vials and injected by headspace sampler into the gas chromatograpy with flame ionization detector(FID).The vinyl chloride was then separated by HP-Wax capillary column and quantified by external standard method. Results: The range of linear range was 0.20~10 μg(R=0.9996).The limit detection was 0.047 μg(S/N).The relative standard deviation(RSD) was less than 6%(n=6) and the recoveries of the spiked samples for low, middle and high concentrations were 90%~97%.Conclusion: This method is simple, convenient, sensitive, accurate and is suitable to the determination of vinyl chloride monomer in water supply pipes.
