Title: Effects of safflor injection on the ultrastructure changes in lung tissue during the ischemia-reperfusion lung injury in rabbits
Abstract: Objective:To observe ultrastructure changes of safflor injection in protecting lung against ischemia-reperfusion injury and to study the mechanism. Methods:Rabbit lung model of ischemia-reperfusion injury was constituted in vivo.Thirty rabbits were divided into three groups randomly:sham-operation group(group S),ischemia-reperfusion group(group IR)and ischemia- reperfusion plus safflor injection(group SI),the ultrastructure changes in lung tissue were observed under electron microscope at 3 hours after reperfusion. Results:In IR group,it could be seen that swollen vascular endothelial cells with gathered chromatin along the nuclear membrane, reduced microvilli an the surface of type Ⅱ alveoli with swollen mitochondria, and inflammation cells infiltration in pulmonary septa. The basement membrane was disrupted.safflor injection treatment mitigated the injury of IR in SI group. Conclusion:The ultrastructure of pulmonary alveoli and its capillaries were certainly changed in a state of ischemia-reperfused lung, and Safflor can decrease the injury by inhibition of interactions between infiltration of polymorpbonuclear neutrophils and functional disordered vascular endothelial.
