Title: WATER RESOURCE SECURITY AND COUNTERMEASURES IN CHINA ORIENTED TO GLOBALIZATION
Abstract: As one of the most important features in the present world, globalization includes not only economic aspect but resources utilization and environmental issues as well. Water, a specific natural resource, is necessary for the healthy of both human being and natural ecosystem and is significant for national economic development. Therefore, it has gained extensive attention from scientists both domestic and abroad, policymakers and international organizations in recent years. By combining the current situation of water security in China with the potential influence of globalization, the main concern of this paper is devoted to strategic countermeasures of China towards globalization. As the membership of WTO, China will confronted with increasingly serious water issues involving in water shortage, water pollution and water-related ecological problems, which make China's water resources lack competitiveness on the international market. Nevertheless, globalization will offer China opportunities to guarantee water security while bringing challenges. It is argued that countermeasures as using external water resources as well as conserving internal water resources, improving efficiency of water utilization and transforming industrial structure, and so on, should be launched out for China's water security.
