Title: Different drugs on preventing sevoflurane-induced post-anesthesia agitation in children
Abstract: Objective To study the effects of dexmedetomidine, ketamine and fentanyl on sevoflurane-induced postanesthesia agitation in children. Methods One hundred and twenty healthy children,ASA classⅠorⅡ,aged 3-10 years old, scheduled for strabismus surgery were enrolled. The patients were randomly assigned to receive saline (group C,n=30),dexmedetomidine 0.3 μg/kg(group D,n=30),fentanyl 1 μg/kg(group F,n=30),ketamine 0.5 mg/kg (group K,n=30)10 minutes before the end of surgery.Intraoperative hemodynamics were recorded in every 5 min.At the end of anesthesia, the incidence of emergence agitation, the time to eyes opening (TEO) and to discharge from the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU)were recorded. Results There were no significant differences in the changed of BP,HR,SpO2 in four groups. The incidence of agitation was 63.3% in group C,13.3% in group D,16.7% in group F and 6.7% in group K(P0.01).Both the recovery time and the length of PACU stay were significant longer in group K(P0.05).Conclusion Children undergoing strabismus surgery show a decreased incidence of agitation when received dexmedetomidine 0.3 μg/kg,fentanyl 1 μg/kg,ketamine 0.5 mg/kg.
