Title: Application of two ecological footprint method in Chongqing city
Abstract: By using traditional ecological footprint method and energy ecological footprint method, this paper calculated and analyzed the ecological footprint and the bio-capacity of Chongqing city in 2011. The results showed that the ecological deficits of Chongqing city in 2011 calcuted by energy and traditional ecological footprint methods were 2.07 hm2/cap and 3.487 hm2/cap, respectively. The ecological footprint value based on the two methods both exceeded its carrying capacity, which indicated that the social and economic development of the study area was not sustainable. The results of the two methods were compared in this paper and some proposals for sustainable development of Chongqing city were offered.
