Title: Expression of Dicer protein in non-small cell lung cancer and its correlation with cancerous cell proliferation
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the expression and significance of Dicer,PCNA protein in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. Methods:The expressions of Dicer protein and PCNA protein and the clinico-pathologic features of lung cancer in 57 cases of lung cancer and 16 cases of normal lung tissue were analyzed statistically by immunohistochemical SP method. Results:The loss of expression of Dicer protein in 57 cases of lung carcinoma was 50.9%,while in 16 cases of normal lung tissues the loss was 37.5%(P0.05).The loss of expression of Dicer protein in lung adenocarcinoma was 66.7%,while the loss was 37.0% in squamous carcinoma, which was statistically significant(P0.05)between the two pathological types. The loss of expression of Dicer protein in high differentiation carcinoma(33.3%)was lower than in low differentiation carcinoma(76.5%),which was statistically significant(P0.05)between high and low differentiation cancers. However,no correlation was found between pTNM stages, lymph node metastasis, age and gender(P0.05).The mean index of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA)in low and high level expression of Dicer were(48.32±25.34)% and(37.61±20.31)% respectively(P0.05).Conclusion:The loss of expression of Dicer protein may take part in the onset and process of lung adenocarcinoma;it influences the direction of differentiation of the lung carcinoma cell and is not directly linked to the expression of PCNA protein.
