Title: The Role of Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke Treated with Intravenous Thrombolysis
Abstract: Transcranial Doppler ultrasonography(TCD) yields satisfactory agreement with CT angiography(CTA) in the evaluation of patients with acute cerebral ischemia. TCD can provide real-time flow findings that are complentary to information provided by CTA. A Thrombolysis in Brain Ischemia(TIBI) classification is developed to noninvasively monitor intracranial vessel residual flow signals to assess recanalization. In patients with acute middle cerebral artery occlusion, flow diversion(FD), as a marker of leptomeningeal collateralization on TCD, predicts 90-day clinical outcome. End-diastolic velocity increase predicts recanalization.
