Title: LONG-TERM OUTCOME AND ITS RELATED FACOTORS OF FRONTAL LOBE EPILEPSY SURGERY
Abstract: [Objective]To analyze the long-term results of frontal lobe epilepsy surgery, and to evaluate the preoperative factors predicting a good postoperative outcome in long-term follow up.[Methods]97 adult patients operated on for frontal lobe epilepsy were longitudinal followed up,the preoperative factors which could predict the postoperative outcomes were evaluated with Logistic regression.[Results]22% of the patients became seizure-free,9% had only postoperative auras, and 18% had rare seizures.Onset of epilepsy before the age of 12,the time of the disease being less than 6 years、absence of aura、seizure frequency being more than 10 times per month、unifrontal structural lesions on qualitative MR imaging、and ECoG detecting predominant β type discharge predicted ILAE I outcome.[Conclusion]Age of onset of epilepsy, the course of the disease、absence of aura or not, seizure frequency,MR imaging, and ECoG detecting discharge are the factors associated with good postoperative outcome.
