Abstract: The principal component analysis is used to study the soil salinization in Awati Irrigation District. The results show that the irrigation district is medium to heavy sulphate salinized, with salt content of 0.5%~4% in its top 30 cm cultivated layer, and the soil of the irrigation district has suffered multiple salinity accumulation and eluviations processes. The accumulated contribution rate of the first and second principal component is about 90% in cultivation layer. The first principal component denotes the degree of soil salinity, while the second and the third principal components indicate the degree of soil alkalinity.
