Title: Analysis on the Kinematic Chain Configuration Scheme of Five-axis Milling Machine Tool
Abstract: Five-axis CNC machining centers have become quite common today. The kinematics of most of the machines are based on a rectangular Cartesian coordinate system. This paper classifies the possible conceptual designs and existing implementations of five-axis milling machine based on the theoretically combinations of the degrees of freedom. The advantages and disadvantages of each concept are analyzed.Based on the theoretical analysis above-mentioned,the design limitations and the number of structural configurations for common five-axis milling machines are identified according to the definition of coordinate systems and the configuration code of machine tools. The results of this paper are beneficial to engineers in the design and evaluation of five-axis milling machine tools.
