Title: Detection for inducible clindamycin-resistant of staphylococcus isolates and analysis of resistance
Abstract: Objective To investigate the frequency of inducible clindamycin-resistant of staphylococcus isolates in the local district. Methods The susceptibilities of erythromycin and clindamycin for staphylococcus were examined by Kirby-Bauer disc agar diffusion test and the inducible clindamycin-resistance was detected by D-test.Results Of 61 erythromycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureu isolates,40 were demonstrated to be resistant to clindamycin, while 21 showed susceptible to clindamycin, among them 8 were inducible clindamycin-resistant isolates.Of 106 erythromycin-resistant coagulase-negative staphylococcus(CNS) isolates,62 were demonstrated to be resistant to clindamycin, while 44 showed susceptible to clindamycin, among them 27 were inducible resistant isolates. Conclusion The percentage of inducible clindamycin-resistance was 53.8% (35/65) in clindamycin-susceptible staphylococcus isolates. The results indicated that D-test should be performed in clindamycin-susceptible isolates which were failing in clinical therapy by using clindamycin for staphylococcal infection.
