Title: Study on Megasporogenesis, Microsporogenesis and Development of Female and Male Gametophytes of Hypricum perforatum L.
Abstract: The megasporogenesis and microsporogenesis as well as the development of male and female gametophytes of Hypricum perforatum L. were investigated by using the conventional method of paraffin section. Results show that Hypricum perforatum L. bears both male and female flowers. The other has four chambers, and the development of anther wall is dicotyledonous type which is composed of epidermis, endothecium, one layer of middle layer and amoeboid tapetum. The tapetum begins to vary before meiosis and tetrad with the cytoplasm moving into the anther cell. The cytokinesis of microspore mother cell in meiosis is simultaneous. Furthermore, the results gained from observing the dissected structures of flowers organs in the different stages of Hypricum perforatum L. indicate that its ovule is anatropous, bitegmic, and crassinucellar. The development of the embryo sac (female gametophyte) conformed to the polygonum type.
