Title: An Empirical Study on Japanese Rural Women's Economic Status
Abstract: The investigation of rural women's economic participation and economic status among Japanese full-time farmers indicates that women contribute a lot to family agriculture. They get salary from agricultural work, and their status of unpaid worker is almost eliminated. This progress is the result of efforts in the family, and it also benefits from the political and systematical assistance. However, this progress is of certain limitations, for example, the income does not reflect women's real contribution;women cannot be in free charge of their salary;women's economic status measured by the comprehensive index composed of salary, pension, and land benefits still requires for improvement.
