Title: The study of positive probability discriminant method in the differential diagnosis of pulmonary nodules by high resolution CT
Abstract: Objective To investigate the useful signs of isolated pulmonary nodule on high resolution CT (HRCT), and to explore the imaging characteristics with positive probability discriminant method. Methods One hundred and twenty cases with pathologically proved isolated pulmonary nodule were retrospectively studied, including 30 cases of peripheral lung carcinomas, 30 inflammatory nodules, 30 tuberculomas, and benign tumors, respectively.Preoperative HRCT and conventional CT scans were available for all cases before and after contrast medium.CT signs of these isolated pulmonary nodules were analyzed and then translated into probability scores to identify the nodular category. Results The whole diagnostic accuracy (78.9%) of peripheral lung carcinomas, inflammatory nodules, and tuberculomas with probability discriminant method was higher than that (68.9%) with routine diagnostic method (χ2=4.27, P0.05).Conclusion Probability discriminant method can improve the diagnostic accuracy in isolated pulmonary nodule on the basis of HRCT.
