Title: Species distribution and antifungal resistance of Candida in respiratory infection patients
Abstract: Objective To investigate distribution and antifungal resistance of Candida isolated from respiratory infection patients in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. Methods The strains of Candida were isolated from respiratory infection patients in our hospital and identified with API-20Aux strip. Drug sensitive test of Candida were detected with ATB-Fungus strip. Results Among 131 strains examined, the most common Candida isolated rate was Candida albicans( 55. 0% ) ,Candida glabrata( 20. 6% ) ,Candida tropicalis( 8. 4% ) . The Candida had higher sensitivity to amphotericin B( AMB) and itraconazole, their rates of susceptibility were 97. 7% and 95. 1% respectively, but the sensitivity rate to Miconazole was relatively low ( 65. 8%) . Conclusion The pathogens causing fungus infection are mainly Candida albicans in our hospital and it shows more sensitive to amphotericin B( AMB) and itraconazole, but the intermediate strains and resistant strains increase annually. Serious attention should be paid to drug-resistant Candida isolated from respiratory infection patients.
