Title: STUDY ON MECHANISM OF MESOPORE FORMATION OF PITCH-BASED SPHERICAL ACTIVATED CARBON USING IRON AS CATALYST
Abstract: WT4”BZ]Transformation of iron forms in pitch sphere during carbonization and activation were studied using XPS, XRD and Mssbauer Effect Spectroscopy (MES) methods A large amount of α-Fe were formed during carbonization at 900℃, which was the main active species for the iron-catalyzed activation in this study γ-Fe 2O 3 together with Fe 3O 4 acted as the oxygen-transfer medium in the iron-catalyzed activation The mesopore was mainly formed around iron particles, and its formation can be followed one by one since the iron particles dispersed in pitch sphere homogeneously The pore property of yielded pitch-based spherical activated carbon was also investigated using SEM Based on the above results, the model for mesopore formation of pitch-based spherical activated carbon was proposed [WT4”HZ]
