Title: Application of Permeable Reactive Barrier for Remediation of Polluted River Water
Abstract: The feasibility of applying permeable reactive barrier(PRB) to remedy polluted river water was investigated by pilot test. The results show that the PRB system using scrap iron, coke and zeolite as reactive media has high removal rates of COD,TN,NO-3-N,NH+4-N and TP,being 59.36%,62.16%,76.62%,26.85% and 82.04% respectively. The internal electrolysis and the adsorption by purifying material are the main mechanisms of pollutant removal in the permeable reactive barrier.
