Title: Dermatomyositis and Polymyositis Associated with Malignancy:A Retrospective Analysis of 21 Cases
Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical features and prognosis of dermatomyositis and polymyositis associated with malignancy. Methods A retrospective study was performed of 21 patients who were diagnosed as DM/PM associated with malignancy admitted to our hospital within 6 years. Results The incidence of malignancy among DM/PM was 11.54%, in which lung cancer and liver cancer were most common. The death rate in first year was 57.89%, the main causes of death were malignancy and complication. Conclusion The patients with DM/PM much more easily suffer from malignancy, the types of which are similar to the local malignancy popular trend. The treatment of malignancy greatly influences the treatment of DM/PM. The prognosis of dermatomyositis and polymyositis associated with malignancy is not good.
