Title: Effects of Chinese herbal compound Tangbikang on the expression of NGF, BDNF and NT-3 protein in diabetic rat' s sciatic nerve
Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effects of Chinese herbal compound Tangbikang on the expression of nerve growth factor(NGF), brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) and neurotrophic factor-3(NT-3) protein in diabetic rat's sciatic nerve. Methods: The type 2 diabetes model of rats were induced by high grease feeding and low-dose STZ injection. The rats were given Tangbikang with different doses in Tangbikang groups, and mecobalamin as positive control drug. The ipsilateral sciatic nerve was taken after 16 weeks, and the expression of NGF, BDNF and NT-3 protein in sciatic nerve were detected by Western blot. Results: Compared with the normal group, the expressions of NGF, BDNF and NT-3 protein in model group were significantly decreased(P0.01). Compared with the model group, the expression of NGF protein was significantly increased in medium dose of Tangbikang group(P0.05), and the expressions of BDNF and NT-3 protein were significantly increased in low dose, medium dose and high dose of Tangbikang groups(P0.01). Conclusion: Chinese herbal compound Tangbikang could promote the expression of NGF, BDNF and NT-3 protein in diabetic peripheral neuropathy rats' sciatic nerve.
