Title: AIDS Surveillance Among Drug Users in Mianyang,2009
Abstract: Objective To Learn about the awareness of AIDS related knowledge,behaviors and HIV infection status among drug users in Mianyang and provide evidence for the health education and intervention.Methods A total of 400 drug users were selected randomly to conduct questionnaire survey and blood samples were taken from them for HIV,HCV and Syphilis detection.Result The awareness rate of AIDS related knowledge was 96.63%.Intravenous drug users(IDUs) accounted for 76.75%,and 0.33% of them shared needles with others in last month.Only 28.76% of drug users used condoms at last sex,and 54.54% of drug users used condoms at last commercial sex.Up to 98.75% of drug users received preventive service in last year.The positive rate of HIV antibody was 1.25%,the positive rate of HCV antibody was 74.37% and the positive rate of syphilis antibody was 2.01%.Conclusions The awareness rate of AIDS related knowledge was high among the drug users,and the positive rate of HIV antibody and the rate of sharing needles were lower than before,but condoms use rate was low,suggesting the existence of high risk of HIV infection.It is necessary to strengthen the intervention to prevent and control HIV infection among drug users.
