Title: Synthesis of Amino-functionalized MCM-48 Mesoporous Silica and Its Performance for the Selective Adsorption of Hydrogen Cyanide in Cigarette Smoke
Abstract: Amino functionalized MCM-48 mesoporous silica was successfully synthesized by post-synthesis treatment of pure silica MCM-48(Si-MCM-48),and was characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),nitrogen adsorption, scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and FT-IR spectroscopy. The results showed that amino groups were successfully grafted on Si-MCM-48 surface by the reaction between(3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane and Si-OH groups on Si-MCM-48 surface, which was confirmed by the results from FT-IR spectroscopy and the elemental analysis.XRD and N2 adsorption results exhibited that the cubic Ia3 d structure of Si-MCM-48 was maintained after aminosilane grafting, but the specific surface area, pore volume and pore size of amino functionalized Si-MCM-48 decreased compared with Si-MCM-48.When amino functionalized Si-MCM-48 was added in the cigarette filter and used as the adsorbent,it possessed excellent performance for the selective reduction of HCN amount in cigarette mainstream smoke.
