Title: Effects of No-tillage on Water Use Efficiency in Interplanted Summer Corn
Abstract: Water saving tillage measures were studied and applied mainly in rainfed farmland. A study was carried out to study the suitable combination of water saving tillage measures(no tillage) with pipe irrigation techniques in irrigated farmland to give full play of the water saving potential and superiority of tillage measures and irrigation water techniques, as well as to improve farmland water use efficiency. Experimental results show that no tillage in summer corn can reduce soil surface evaporation by 27.6% and raise water use efficiency by 18.9%, compared with conventional tillage. Meanwhile, the on tillage measures have an obvious advantage of saving labors and energy and can lower tillage cost by 52.9%~74.3%.
