Title: Effects of folate on proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells in vitro
Abstract: OBJECTIVE To explore the protective effect of folic acid on proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells in vitro. METHODS On the 14th day of gestation, NSCs were obtained. MTT method was used to detect the proliferation of NSCs cultured with folic acid of different concentrations and time. After 6 days, the NSCs purified were placed into culture dishes of fetus bovine serum. On the seventh day of differentiation, double-tabeling immunofluorescence with antibody Nestin and BrdU was taken to calculate the number of NSCs by 8 fields of vision chosen randomly . RESULTS Comparing to control group, NSCs of folate group was increase and better, and significantly (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Folic acid may suppress proliferation and differentiation of NSCs efficiently.
