Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To observe therapeutic efficacy of TCM combined with radiotherapy for moderate or advanced esophageal cancer.METHODS:156 cases of moderate or advanced esophageal cancer patients were randoml...OBJECTIVE:To observe therapeutic efficacy of TCM combined with radiotherapy for moderate or advanced esophageal cancer.METHODS:156 cases of moderate or advanced esophageal cancer patients were randomly divided into control group and treatment group with 78 cases in each group.2 groups were given conventional three-field irradiation using 6 mV-X ray linear accelerator 200 cGy every time,5 times a week,3 weeks for a courses;in treatment group patients received radiation therapy and TCM decoction,1 doses per day,3 week for a course of treatment,for continuous 2 Courses.Total effective rate and ADR were censused.RESULTS:After treatment,control group had 6 cases of complete remission,53 cases of partial remission,19 cases of no remission,total effective rate was 75.64%;treatment group 7 cases of complete remission,61 cases of partial remission,10 cases of no remission,the total effective rate was 87.18%;the total effective rate of 2 groups had significant difference(P0.05).45 patients suffered from bone marrow depression in control group after radiotherapy,22 cases of radiation esophagitis,26 cases of radiation bronchitis,15 cases of gastrointestinal reactions;21 patients suffered from bone marrow depression in treatment group after radiotherapy,15 cases of radiation esophagitis,19 cases of radiation bronchitis,8 cases of gastrointestinal reactions;toxic side effect of 2 groups had significant difference(P0.05).CONCLUSION:TCM decoction combined with radiotherapy in the treatment of moderate or advanced esophageal cancer can improve the curative efficacy,reduce radiation-induced toxic side effects and improve patients' immunity and systemic conditions.Read More
