Title: A Brief Analysis of Confucian Thought of "Ruling by Virtue"
Abstract: The theoretical basis of Confucian thought of 'ruling by virtue' is the doctrine of original goodness of human nature. The content of this doctrine is very rich, of which the most classic ones are: being moral in governance, valuing the deeds of cultivation one's moral character, considering the people to be the foundation of the country, putting education before punishment, relying mainly on moral education and making the punishment subsidiary, respecting the virtuous and employing the able. Although they are very useful, we should also realize that there are many limitations in the Confucian thought of ruling by virtue. So we should look closely at it with dialectical spirit.
