Title: Design of Novel Non-Image Laser Beam Conventor
Abstract: A novel laser beam conventor is proposed in this paper.It can change the diameter of incident beam according to the theory of total internal reflection-refraction principle.The propagation rule and characteristic of the propagation beam are studied by using ray-tracing method and computer simulation.This conventor can shrink a parallel laser beam into a parallel laser beam with the smaller diameter along the propagation axis,a laser beam focusing on the center axis and a hollow laser beam.For a nonparallel beam,it has similar characteristic to traditional beam expanders.The difference is that the Lagrange invariant(the product of diameter and radiation angle)is not constant,that is to say,the Lagrange invariant will decrease with the increase of diameter and increase with the decrease of diameter,slightly.This novel conventor has the advantages of simple structure,low price,high magnification and high propagation efficiency,so it can be effectively used in many applications.
