Title: An Eexperimental Study of Preparation of Ginkgo Biloba Leaves on Learning and Memory Disorder in a Multiple Ischemic Dementia Rat Model
Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of preparation of ginkgo leaf on learning and memory disorder in Multi-infarct dementia rats, and provide experimental data for clinical application. Methods The models of multi-infarct dementia in rats were established,Y-maze test, nocuity electric stimulation test and the contents of acetylcholine(Ach) in hippocampus were measured. Results In each treated group, the time of Y-maze test and the frequency of the fault of nocuity electric stimulation were significantly lower than the model group(P0.01).Except the fault frequency at the first day,the time of Y- maze test and the frequency of the fault of nocuity electric stimulation in ginkgo leaf preparation group were significantly higher than the western medicine group.Ach decreased significantly in hippocampus of the MID dementia rats(P0.01).Medication significantly up-regulated Ach level, moreover ginkgo leaf preparation group was higher than the western group. Conclusion Ginkgo leaf preparation is effective in improving learning and memory dysfunction in multi-infarct dementiarats,it can also upregulate Ach content in hippocampus.
