Title: School Reform in the Context of New Public Management
Abstract: There is a close link between school reform and government reform or public executive reform. At the end of 1970s and the beginning of 1980s, new public management campaign was launched in the western countries with focus on the repositioning of government role, the improving of public service efficiency, guidance of customers, elimination of rules and regulations and the establishment of the cooperative partnership between government, society and individuals. In the context of new public management, schools conduct reform mainly by approaching such strategies as the introduction of market mechanism, the implementation of diverting educational rights, practice of performance management and the strengthening of guidance of customers.
