Title: Study on location diagnosis of epilepsia by ~(99m)Tc-ECD brain SPECT rCBF imaging
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the value of 99mTc-ECD brain SPECT imaging for localization of epileptic foci in patients at ictal and interictal period. Methods Brain SPECT imaging in the interictal period was performed in 54 epileptic patients and ten of them received brain SPECT imaging in the ictal period. The results were compared with that of CT/MRI, EEG and EcoG. Results Brain SPECT imaging in the ictal and interictal period showed high positive rate and foci localization rate, which was superior to EEG and CT/MRI. There was no significant difference (P0.05) between the results obtained by brain SPECT imaging in the ictal period and those in the interictal period. Conclusions Brain SPECT imaging in the interictal period might be a simple and valuable method for the localization of the epileptic foci. The localization will be more accurate when brain SPECT imaging in the interictal period is combined with that in the ictal period.
