Title: Coastal Profile Types and Evolution Regularities of the Yellow River Delta
Abstract: Based on the observed topographic data on 36 profiles in the Yellow River dalta littoral area and the observed hydrographic and sediment data at the Lijin Hydrologic Station, the dynamic geomorphology method is used to study the coastal profile forms and scour-deposition evloution of the Yellow River delta. It is showm from the study results that the coastal profiles of the Yellow River delta can be classified as three basic types, constructive profile, destructive profile and stable profile. The constructive profiles are distributed in the flowing river mouth area, and the prograding distance is dependent on the ratio of coastal accretion to erosion;the destructive profiles are mainly distributed in the abandoned river mouth area, and their erosional depths are closely related with the ocean dynamics, especially the tidal current speed;and the stable profiles are mainly distributed in the Wanwangou River mouth area and in the coastal area south of the Guangli River mouth, the former area is less affected by the ocean dynamics, and the latter area is related with the tidal current field in the Laizhou Bay.
