Title: Study on the Relationship between the Increase in Serum Uric Acid and Henoch-Schonlein Purpura Nephritis
Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship between the increase in serum uric acid(SUA) and Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis(HSPN).Methods To mensurate the NAG,UMA,Uβ_2-MG,urine routine, SCr,BUN,SUA of 50 children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura(HSP). Intervention treatment was carried out in children with increased SUA. The mean follow-up period was 8.5 months. Results (1) There were 31 cases with HSP accompanied by increased SUA(60%); (2) Secondary HSPN growth formed by HSP were 23 cases(46%); (3) The increase in SUA was observed in 18 of 23 cases with secondary HSPN(78.3%) and 13 of 27 case with HSP (48.1%). There was significant difference between two groups(0.01). (4) Severity of the SUA-increasing HSPN group(18 cases) has no significant difference in comparison with that of no-SUA-increasing HPSN group(5 cases). (5) Intervention treatment was carried out in 10 cases with HSPN accompanied by increased SUA, which course of HSPN was significantly shorter than that of 8 cases without intervention treatment(P0.05).Conclusion The incidence and severity of HSPN are related to the increase in SUA. No significant correlation exists between the injury of kidney and the increase in SUA. It can shorten the course of HSPN by treating hyperuricemia.
