Title: Physiological response to low temperature stress in Cerops tagal seedlings
Abstract: The effects of low temperature stress at 5℃ on seedlings of mangrove Cerops tagal was conducted in this paper. The changes of cold resistant physiological index such as the content of superoxide anion free group(O2-·),the content of H2O2,superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD) and catalase(CAT) activity, the content of soluble protein, proline and malondialdehyde(MDA) were measured. The results showed that as low temperature stress intensified and time prolonged, the content of O2-· and the activity of CAT first increased then decreased, and increased at last;the activity of SOD,POD and the content of H2O2,MDA,soluble protein increased at first, then decreased;the content of proline increased wave upon wave. The changes of cold resistant physiological index showed that Cerops tagal seedling could repair itself by its own cold resistant system to maintain normal growth at 5℃ low temperature environment.
