Title: Treatment of recombinant interleukin-11 plus EPO in chemotherapyinduced thrombocypenia patients
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of recombinant interleukin-11(IL-11)plus EPO on chemotherapy-induced thrombocypenia as well as the side-effects.Methods 56 patients with chemotherapy-induced thrombocypenia were randomly divided into two groups. The treatment group(n=24)were treated with rhIL-11 in combination with EPO.The control group(n=32)were treated with rhIL-11 alone. Results At the 7th and 14th day,the platelets in the treatment group increased significantly higher than that in the control group(P0.05).The median time of platelet recovery by 50×109/L and 100 ×109/L in the treatment group was markedly shorter than that in the control group(3.2 d vs 7.6 d,5.1 d vs 12.5 d,P0.05).The common side-effects were muscle and joint pain, fatigue, cardiopalmus, fever and headache. Conclusion IL-11 combined with EPO significantly increases the platelet caused by chemotherapy. The side-effects are moderate and well tolerated.
