Title: Origins of Classicism in Chinese Modern Literature
Abstract: This paper is a study on the origins and the development of Classicism in the Chinese modern literature.The conclusion is:The Chinese Classicism was introduced from Irving Babbitt,an American living in the 20th century,who had taken in the thoughts of the 17th century French Classicism and had criticized the specific politics of it.The Babbitt's Classicism,in fact,is a kind of de-politicized thoughts,which criticized the modernity and reconstructed the classical aesthetics in the literature.This classicism was introduced to China by Xueheng School and Xinyue School in the 1920~1930s,finally became a tide,and possessed a due position in the history of Chinese modern literature.
