Title: Research on the relationship between tourism industry agglomeration and economic growth in China based on the panel data
Abstract: The article selects the location quotient index as a measure indicator to measure and systematically analyze the agglomeration level of tourism industry,star hotels and travel agencies of 31 provinces,autonomous regions and municipalities in mainland China from 1997 to 2010. Then it uses the panel data of co- integration tests,estimated analysis and causality tests to examine the relationship between tourism industry agglomeration and economic growth of the nationwide as the well as eastern,central and western regions. Results show that the level of tourism industry agglomeration has an increasing trend in most of the country,and the level of tourism industry agglomeration in eastern region is significantly higher than that in the central and western regions. Tourism industry agglomeration has a significant positive effect on the regional economic growth,especially in less developed district like the central and western regions; meanwhile,there are different directions of causality among the nationwide as the well as eastern,central and western regions due to the different levels of economic development.
