Title: A new method for long-term enteral nutrition support
Abstract: Objective: To develop a simple method for fixing nutrition tube used for long-term enteral nutrition support. Methods: Twenty adult SPF Sprague Dawley rats were performed intubation in the proximal jejunum, and the tube was fixed at multi levels. Then the tubal spring for avoiding the soft tube bit by rat was fixed on the ilium. After fastening the tube,we begin continuous enteral nutrition support using electric infusion pump, and the body weight and general conditions of rat were investigated during the period of management. Results: All rats obtained success of intubation in the proximal jejunum, and the operation time and the duration of enteral nutrition support were 44±9 minutes and 30 days respectively.During the 30 days,we did not find any side-effects such as abdominal distension and diarrhoea in all rats of experimental group.Meanwhile, the tube for enteral nutrition of all rats had not dropped and was not bit by rats.In addition, concerning the mean weight of rats there was no significant difference in two groups. Conclusion: This method for fixing the tube used for long-term enteral nutrition support is simple, firm and reliable, and the used materials of this method are acceptable in the price.Since this method can meet requirements of studying long-term enteral nutrition support,so it is advisable for us to popularize it.
