Title: Effects of high temperature stress on antioxidant system in two cyclamen cultivars
Abstract: Seedlings of two cyclamen(1011 and 1051) cultivars were stressed with high temperature(day 35 ℃/night 27 ℃),the temperature for comparison was day 22 ℃/night 17 ℃,and the antioxidant system of cyclamen leaves were determined. The results showed that under high temperature stress, the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD) decreased in both cultivars, but the decrease in 1011 was less than that in 1051;the activities of catalase(CAT),peroxidase(POD) and ascorbic acid peroxides(APX) increased in 1011,while the activities of CAT and APX decreased in 1051,though POD activity slightly increased. The content of Ascorbic acid(AsA) increased in 1011,but decreased in 1051.These results indicated that the ability to scavenge the active oxygen of enzyme and nonenzyme system in 1011 was better than that in 1051 under high temperature stress.
