Title: Study on Formulation Process of Hydroxyl-terminated Polybutadiene Propellant With High Strength and High Burning Rate
Abstract: The formulation of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene(HTPB) propellant with high mass fraction of non- volatile substance, high strength and high burning rate was investigated. The HTPB/TDI(toluene diisocyanate) binder system, STR reinforced curing network and assistant SX-1 were adopted to improve the processing property. The obtained propellant possesses excellent properties, such as mass fraction of non-volatile substance 88%, density 1.82 g/cm3, tensile strength σm 3 MPa at 20℃, tensile strength σm≥ 2.3 MPa at 65℃, and burning rate 35 mm/s by means of optimizing AP particle size distribution, modifying mixing process procedure and etc. Moreover, the propellant slurry exhibits low initial viscosity, and good process fluidity and self-leveling behavior.
