Title: The correlation of thioredoxin-interacting protein with type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance
Abstract: Objective To explore the correlation of thioredoxin-interacting protein(TXNIP) with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) and insulin resistance. Methods Serum TXNIP was measured by ELISA in 54 T2DM patients(group A) and 30 healthy controls(group B).Glycosylated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c),fasting plasma glucose(FPG),insulin(FIns) and blood lipid were measured as well. Results Serum level of TXNIP was higher in group A than that in group B(P0.05),which was positively correlated to FPG,HbA1c and homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance(HOMA-IR)(P0.01).HbA1c and HOMA-IR were the independent factors for determining serum TXNIP concentration. Conclusion TXNIP may participate in the process of developing T2DM and insulin resistance.
