Title: Diagnostic Value of Breast Mass with Color Doppler Ultrasound
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the diagnosis value of color ultrasound for detecting breast masses. Methods Breast masses were scanned with color Doppler ultrasound, the breast masses were analysed according to the size, the shape, the inner echo and the blood flow, especially the distribution of blood flow was graded. Results 36% benign and 95% malignant breast masses were found in blood flow. There was a significant difference between the benign and the malignant.the benign was 0 or I grade in the majority and the malignant was II or III grade in the majority. The quantity and the distribution of blood flow was related with the pathologic type, the size, the shape, the malignant level of the breast masses. There was significant difference between the benign and the malignant in the pulsatility index(PI),the resistance index(RI),the maximal systolic velocity(Vmax).Using Vmax≥10cm/s and RI≥0.7 as a criteria, the malignant could be recognized by a sensitivity of 84%,a specificity of 72% and a accuracy of 79%.Conclusion Color Doppler Ultrasound not only observed the size, the shape, the inter-echo and blood flow of the breast masses, but also provided quantification of blood flow homodynamic indices.
