Title: Global Fair Trade: New Trend of North-South Trade
Abstract: As a new trade form of north-south trade, fair trade has a seventy years’ history. During these years, it has achieved great successes. The fair trade of agricultural products and food has emerged as an important tool to create markets for poor and small-scale farmers and simultaneously promote pro-poor development. This paper introduces fair trade comprehensively about its history of development, networking and membership organizations, and participants and operating mechanisms, and then analyses the challenges in terms of the principle of fair trade, fair trade labeling, consumer markets and the long term comparative advantages of the developing countries the fair trade facing.
