Title: The Phytoplankton and the Red Tide Monitoring in Yangtze Estuary and Shengshi Islands
Abstract: Shengshi island is located in the Yangjtze estuary, where the red tide often occurred. We have monitored in this area four times from June to August in 1999,and the results showed that the sea water in this area was eutrophication, that density of Phytoplankton was very high, and that the mainly dominant species was Noctiluca scientillans and Skeletonema costatum which often cause red tide bloom. The DIP content in the sea water might be play an important role in limiting the phytoplankton bloom. In the period of monitoring we have catched a Meosodinium rubrum red tide.
