Title: The Lexical Relevance in the Teaching and Test of Reading Comprehension
Abstract: This paper argues the basis of semantic relation and its pragmatic relation on the Relevance Theory and metonymy mechanism in reading test. According to Leech's categorization of meaning and Hoey' s forms of lexical repetition model, the lexical function in reading test of CET- 4 in the latest 10 years is analyzed. Among them, hyponymy, collocation and pragmatic mapping play the main role. Hyponymy contributes to the induction of a thesis and the fast reading such as skimming. Collocation and pragmatic projection makes detail reasoning more accurately. In teaching reading, exercises such as lexical analogy, lexical induction and lexical deduction are introduced. Lexical relevance model not only reduces the thinking cost, but also integrates lexical study into text comprehension, leading learners to read more actively and communicatively.
