Title: FORMATION OF HALOACETIC ACIDS IN WATER THROUGH DISINFECTION BY CHLORINE,CHLORAMINES AND CHLORINE DIOXIDE
Abstract: The formation of haloacetic acids in water is investigated as water is disinfected by free chlorine, chloramines, chlorine dioxide(ClO_2) and short-term ClO_2 plus cloramines. Results show that the use of cloramines and chlorine dioxide as alternate disinfectants can remarkably control the concentration of haloacetic acids. The haloacetic acid level in water that is disinfected by short-term ClO_2 plus chloramines is lower than that treated only by chloramines.
